The ESC/WOSC is the most important regular annual Shogi tournament outside Asia.  In 2011 it will take place in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Here we offer some information.

Time and place

Thursday 14.7.2011 to Sunday 17.7.2011
Heinrich-Pesch-Haus / Lugwigshafen / Germany


Playing Fees

Participation in the ESC/WOSC  25 €
Participation in the blitz tournament  5 €
Meals 15 €  (for three full lunches)


Accommodation

  • Directly in the Heinrich-Pesch-Haus  45 € per night, breakfast 8.50 €
  • Youth Hostel Mannheim (Distance: 7 km) 15.40 € to 22.60 € per night, including breakfast
  • Various hotels of all categories within a few km (information will follow)
  • Participants are to book accommodation themselves. In case of language problems we will try to help.

Tournament

  • 14.7.2011 at 16:30 Opening ceremony
  • 14.7.2011 evening blitz tournament
  • 15.7.2011 rounds 1 to 3, evening event
  • 16.7.2011 rounds 4 to 6
  • 17.7.2011 rounds 7 and 8
  • 17.7.2011 early afternoon: prize giving, farewell ceremony


Additional tourist programme

  • Costs about 200 €
  • 17.7.2011 evening visit to a historic town or castle with dinner
  • 18.7.2011 --- intormation will follow ---
  • 19.7.2011 Heidelberg, Castle, old town, shopping
  • We will go back to Ludwigshafen each evening.
  • Continuing accommodation arrangements to be made by the participants themselves (as described earlier)
